Tap the purple + button in the bottom-right corner of the Home screen. The note editor opens โ type your title, then tap the content area to write. Tap โ Save when done.
While editing a note, tap the ๐จ palette icon in the toolbar. A row of 10 color swatches appears โ tap any to set the note background. The color is visible both in the editor and on the Home screen card.
Option 1: Long-press a note card โ tap Pin Note.
Option 2: Open the note and tap the ๐ pin icon in the toolbar.
Pinned notes appear in a "Pinned" section above all other notes.
Tap the ๐ท tag icon in the note editor toolbar. Type a tag name and tap + or press Enter. Tags appear as #hashtag chips. Tap a chip to remove it. Tags are searchable from the Home screen.
Yes! The search bar at the top of the Home screen searches note titles, content, and tags in real-time. Type any keyword and matching notes appear instantly.
๐ค Sharing
Open the note, tap the Share icon in the toolbar, then tap Share via WhatsApp. WhatsApp will open with the note text pre-filled. Select your contact or group and send. WhatsApp must be installed on your device.
Open the note โ Share โ Share via Email. Your default email app opens with the note title as subject and the note content in the body. Add the recipient and send.
Email Content opens the email composer app with the note pre-filled. Email Link generates a mailto: URL โ useful if the composer doesn't open automatically, or for sharing to other apps that support mail links.
โ๏ธ Backup & Export
Go to the Backup tab โ tap Export Notes โ set a password โ tap Confirm. A password-protected ZIP is created. The app then offers to share it immediately โ send it to Google Drive, WhatsApp, email, or save it locally.
No. The backup is encrypted with AES-256 using your chosen password. NoteSnap does not store your password or have a master key. This is intentional โ your data is only decryptable by you. Always store your backup password in a password manager.
Yes โ the import function replaces all current notes with the imported set. A confirmation dialog is shown before the import completes. If you want to keep both old and new notes, export your current notes first, then import the other backup, then re-import the original.
Export your notes as a ZIP โ when the share dialog appears, tap your system share button and choose Google Drive. Alternatively, in the Backup tab tap Google Drive โ it exports automatically and opens the share sheet.
๐ Security & Lock
Go to Settings โ Security โ App Lock and toggle it on. NoteSnap will use your device's biometrics (fingerprint/Face ID) or PIN. You must have biometrics enrolled in your device settings first.
Yes. When the biometric prompt appears, tap "Use device PIN" (the fallback label). Your device PIN/pattern will be accepted. This fallback is provided automatically by your device's operating system.
Never. NoteSnap uses your device's secure enclave for authentication. The biometric data never leaves the hardware security module, and NoteSnap only receives a pass/fail result โ it never sees or stores biometric data.
๐ Languages & Settings
Go to Settings โ Language. Choose from 18 languages. The app switches immediately without restarting. The language is saved and won't change unless you manually select a different one.
Go to Settings โ Appearance โ Theme. Choose Dark, Light, or System default (follows your device's system setting automatically).
