Short version: NoteSnap stores your notes locally on your device only.
We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data or note content.
No account is required. No server receives your notes.
1. Who We Are

2. Data We Collect
NoteSnap collects minimal data, and only on your local device:
- Note content (title, body, color, tags) — stored locally in
AsyncStorage on your device. Never transmitted.
- App settings (theme, language, sort order, lock preference) — stored locally. Never transmitted.
- Lock timestamp — stored in device
SecureStore to determine auto-lock behavior. Never transmitted.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your location
- Device identifiers (IMEI, GAID, IDFA) — unless AdMob is enabled (see §6)
- Contacts or calendar data
- Crash reports (unless you opt in via device settings)
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Any data from your notes
4. Local Storage
All NoteSnap data is stored exclusively on your device using:
- AsyncStorage — React Native secure local key-value store for notes and settings
- expo-secure-store — encrypted secure storage for the lock timestamp
When you export notes as a ZIP file, the file is created in your device's cache directory and shared to apps you choose. NoteSnap does not automatically upload this file anywhere.
Uninstalling NoteSnap removes all locally stored data permanently.
5. App Permissions
NoteSnap requests the following device permissions:
- USE_BIOMETRIC / USE_FINGERPRINT — to unlock the app with your device biometrics
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — to export and import note backup ZIP files
- INTERNET — required by the Expo framework; NoteSnap itself does not make network requests
- NSFaceIDUsageDescription (iOS) — to unlock with Face ID
None of these permissions are used for data collection, tracking, or advertising purposes.
6. Third-Party Services & Advertising
Expo Framework
NoteSnap is built on the Expo platform (React Native). Expo may collect limited crash and diagnostics data as part of its standard SDK behavior. See Expo Privacy Policy.
Google AdMob (Future)
A future version of NoteSnap may include Google AdMob ads to support development. If and when ads are enabled:
- Google AdMob will collect the Google Advertising ID (GAID) and limited device information to serve personalized or contextual ads
- You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time in your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
- A clear in-app disclosure will be shown before ads appear in any release that includes AdMob
- NoteSnap will comply with the Google EU User Consent Policy and will display a consent prompt to EU/EEA users

The current version of NoteSnap does NOT include advertising. This section is a disclosure for future releases.
File Sharing Services (User-Initiated)
When you share a note or backup file via WhatsApp, Google Drive, Dropbox, or email, the shared content is governed by the privacy policies of those respective services. NoteSnap merely opens those apps — it does not control what happens once you share.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data or note content with any third party, for any reason, at any time.
The only time your note content leaves your device is when you explicitly choose to share it using the in-app share features (email, WhatsApp, etc.) or when you manually export and send your backup ZIP.
8. Children's Privacy
NoteSnap is a general-purpose note-taking application. It is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us at app.zenerly@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete it.
9. GDPR — European Union Users
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the UK:
- Legal basis: We process data (locally, on your device) under the basis of legitimate interest to provide the app's core functionality.
- Data controller: Zenerly (app.zenerly@gmail.com)
- Your rights: You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly by editing or deleting notes in the app, or by uninstalling NoteSnap.
- Data retention: Data is retained for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app deletes all data permanently.
- Data transfers: We do not transfer your data to any third country or international organization.
10. CCPA — California Residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- We do not sell your personal information
- The categories of information we collect are described in §2 above — all stored locally

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:
- The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will change
- For material changes, we will post a notice on the Google Play Store listing
- Continued use of NoteSnap after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy
